"The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves."
-Steven Spielberg
Last week was a busy week! We had multiple athletic events, PSAT testing, and homecoming activities. One of the things that makes me most proud to be a part of Foster High School is that we provide so many opportunities for students to create themselves while guiding them along the way. At the same time, we provide opportunities for kids to be kids. The Homecoming Dance was a perfect example of students just having fun in a safe environment. Many thanks to Ms. Koopman and the Student Council for organizing such a great event! The school spirit was outstanding on Thursday with so many mums walking around and a high-energy pep rally at the end of the day. Best of luck to our Football team in the homecoming game Friday night, and congratulations to our homecoming court.
Congratulations to the girls and boys Water Polo teams for advancing to the next round of the playoffs as they make another run for the State tournament! Our band reached new heights with their performance at the Bands of America regional competition last weekend, They look to continue their success at UIL competition on Friday. Tennis advanced to the second round of the playoffs and ended their season with a hard-fought battle in Katy on Thursday evening. Volleyball, Golf and Cross Country continue with their seasons just as Basketball is about to get going. FFA had a great Fair season and continues to provide students with opportunities. Just so much going on! Best of luck to all students and athletes moving forward. We are proud of you!
Friday, October 9th and Monday, October 12th are holidays. Please enjoy some well-deserved time off.
We will run a Pep Rally Schedule on Friday, October 16th so that we can hold our first ever AP Field of Dreams. Students who scored well on AP tests last year will take to the field and find a sign to celebrate their achievement. Just another example of the opportunities we provide for students at Foster!
Please review the information in this week's newsletter. Should you still have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact your child's assistant principal or counselor as listed below. Together we SOAR!
