FAQ

  • Yes, always send a note explaining why your student was not able to attend school. Notes are due within 5 school days.

  • Please come in to the attendance office to sign your student out along with your ID.

  • Student drivers are allowed to leave and sign out if their parent sends an email to allison.brooks@lcisd.org or kathy.mangum@lcisd.org.  The email must come from the email on file in Skyward.

  • You have 5 school days to submit excuses for the absence to be considered excused. Notes submitted more than 5 days of the student’s return are not considered excused.

  • Arrangements need to be made with the school nurse’s office to be issued a pass.

  • Excused and unexcused reasons for absences are listed in the handbook starting on page 14.

  • Only listed guardians and emergency contacts are allowed to pick a student up from school. No exceptions without written permission from the guardian.

  • If a student is out of school for an extended period of time, you should let the Attendance Office know and your student’s assistant principal.

  • If the nurse sends your student home sick, whatever classes your student misses will be considered absent.

  • A student shall have no more than three absences in a class without a note from a medical professional or no more than 5 absences in a class with a note from a medical professional for at least two of those absences in order to be exempt from the semester exam for that class. Days missed because of approved school-related or school-sanctioned activities and pre-approved college days shall not count against a student. The district shall excuse a student for up to two days during the student’s junior year and up to two days during the student’s senior year to visit an accredited institution of higher education provided the student receives approval from the campus principal, returns with a document certifying that the absence was to visit an accredited institution of higher education, and makes up any work missed.
